Trailblazing Together (Mountaineers & Eco-Tourism Training)

With the Mayor's blessing secured, the real work began on the ground. Opening an eco-tourism site isn't just about clearing trails; it's about preparing the community and protecting the land for generations to come.
This is the fifth and final post of a five-part series documenting that journey from discovering hidden trails alongside local Aeta tribes to the exciting, upcoming official launch of Limay’s additional eco-tourism destinations.

Part 2: Agila Falls
Part 3: Tabing Bisay and Ariada Falls
Part 4: DOT Engagement & Ocular Visits
Part 5: Mountaineers & Eco-Tourism Training
Empowering the Kinaragan Leaders:
The most important step was engaging with the local Aeta tribes who would directly benefit from this project. In July 2026, we met with the Kinaragan Leaders and Elders to coordinate our plans. We sat down and discussed their past experiences in accommodating guests, exploring what we could do to make the system better and safer. A crucial part of this discussion was establishing the strict limitations and rules that future guests must adhere to in order to respect their ancestral domain.

Gearing Up for Excellence:
To ensure we were operating at the highest standard, I was invited by the Provincial Tourism of Bataan in August to attend a rigorous 7-day Eco-Tourism Tour Guide Training. This was part of a larger initiative to kickstart Bataan's outdoor tourism. The training covered everything from the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence to bird watching, basic first aid, life support, and knot tying workshop. Beyond the skills, it became a fantastic avenue for me to connect and collaborate with other Bataan municipal tourism members.

The Ultimate Trail Test & Grand Invitation:
After a week of intense training, I invited my seasoned mountaineering friends to visit the proposed eco-tourism site and experience the beauty of the area for themselves. Seeing them navigate the steep terrain and react to the waterfalls proved we were finally ready. And now, after years of community service, muddy trailblazing, and careful planning, I am officially inviting you to experience the majestic beauty of Limay. Stay vigilant for its official opening, hopefully very soon!

This is the 2nd of a five-part series documenting that journey from discovering hidden trails to official launch of Limay’s eco-tourism destinations

We revisited the area for our explorations two weeks after our visit to Agila Falls and explore the remaining 2 waterfalls.

I drafted an email to the Bataan Tourism. This was the moment the outdoor adventure officially turned into a mission for the community.
